March
I have decided to try and incorporate into our month a hygge week to help us recharge and “enjoy the good things in life”. I choose one “hygge related” thing a day for us to focus on and make sure that we are prepared for it. I love doing these challenges it is so good for your mental well-being.

Monday
Games Night
So we played both the switch and a board game tonight and it was a lot of fun, we had a few low calorie treats and a nice hot drink. It isn’t something we would normally choose together and to make the time for each other was really nice!
Tuesday
Relaxing Bath time with candles and calming music/audio book
This is our time apart so I enjoyed putting some music on, lighting the candles and having a relaxing bath. What an evening I ended the night by reading in bed.
Wednesday
Purchase an activity to do together
We decided on a puzzle, we knew that we would have to keep the puzzle pieces down due to time restraints, but we really enjoyed this one. No tv and taking time out for each other, it felt like we were living life in the slow lane. If I had really thought about it through I would have gotten an easier puzzle.
Thursday
Read in bed together
Thursdays are our busiest weekday evening and we tend not to see each other until our heads hit the pillow so taking half an hour out to calm ourselves and read alongside each other was just what we needed.
Friday
Go to a garden centre
I. Love. Garden centres. This is my happy place, having a bad day, garden centre, having a good day, make it better by going to a garden centre. I love being around the plants and all that comes with garden centres it is just pleasant.
Saturday
Blind Book Date – buy a book for your partner and read it in a day
I have been wanting to do this one for a while and had a great time trying to sneak around the book shop without Jon seeing! The basics of this activity is to have a few rules around the book you will buy for your partner. Our rules were: something the other hasn’t read and that it can be no more than 150 pages so that we can read it in an afternoon.
I love this activity and would do it every week if I could. I chose A Whole Life by Robert Seethaler for him and he chose The invisible Man by H. G. Wells.
Sunday
Muffin and a coffee date
After choosing our books for each other we thought that we could take them to a coffee shop and have a muffin and a coffee together. Then the UK were asked to social distance so we had a teacake and a herbal tea in the comfort of our own living room instead.
Really had a lovely time this week can’t wait until next months!
If you have any Hygge ideas that we could try out feel free to comment below!
Until next time.

Ahhhhhh. bath time. I miss it. Such a perfect slow and simple hygge time. Will have to incorporate a bath date this quarantine week. I take quick showers instead. And the puzzle activity is a great idea! Once we are out of quarantine here in the U.S. I will go and buy a puzzle set for my husband and I to work on together. Love all thses ideas! I’m going to check out the hygge challenge. thanks!

It’s sometimes the most simple things that we miss and we sometimes forget the importance of just taking a bit more time.
Love a good puzzle! I hope you have a fantastic date. Happy Hygge!
