Have you ever just had the urge to be good at something that you are simply horrible at? Well, for me that is baking. I cannot bake, like, at all. I am nervous every time I come to try it, it is an art, and I am not an artist. I am too heavy handed and blasé about it all. So, this is it, I am determined to get this. By the end of the year I will be able to have at least one dish that I can bake well consistently.
So I am starting a review process. Every time I bake, I will photograph it, taste it, review it and correct my mistakes. Here are my notes.
The Attempt: Rocky Road

Recipe: https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/rocky-road
Did I follow the recipe: yes I did…ok do I ever? I didn’t have enough dark chocolate so I swapped in some milk.
Texture: crunchy? Chocolatey.
Decoration: lots of marshmallows. I think it looked alright.
Taste: heaven. Loved it.
Notes: I’ve never really tried Rocky Road before and now, I have a new favourite dessert (I reserve my right to say this about at least two more desserts…). There is much controversy over whether or not I should have put raisins in it, but I tried the same recipe again with less marshmallows and raisins and I don’t care what people say; it is just not as good. I love this first attempt and I am definitely going to make it again. It is comforting and brilliant if you have guests. I would definitely recommend putting equal milk and dark chocolate in, it made the rocky road way more indulgent.

How do you like your rocky road? Let me know in the comments below.
Until next time.
